Ivan Rushmer

Founder of Trackerserver

This guide is published by Trackerserver, a white-label tracking platform founded by Ivan Rushmer.

Rushmer entered the telematics industry in 2014. In the years since, Rushmer's work has covered vehicle tracking, the engineering of the software behind it and the development of tracking hardware, and it is that range which informs the explanations given on this website.

Where hardware is concerned, several of the companies that build the world's best-known telematics devices are Rushmer's working partners. A good part of that collaboration has taken place in China, the home of much device design and manufacture, of which Rushmer has extensive experience, and it has extended to the creation of new tracking products.

Software is Rushmer's own field as a full-stack developer. Every tracking company that adopts Trackerserver receives a separate server and trades under its own name, and the catalogue of devices the platform understands now exceeds 4 800 models.

Indoor tracking became part of that platform with the InSight modules: InSight Mesh for positions inside a building, InSight BLE for equipment that travels with vehicles, and InSight RFID, now in early access, for items read one by one. The purpose of this guide is to set out, without jargon, what each of them does and where each belongs.
